Mesmerizing World Cup promotional vid

If you haven't seen Nike's World Cup Ad, you should definitely check it out (preferably in high-def). It's truly mesmerizing. I love the way they don't just focus on football and fancy footwork (which has already been done to death), but mix it with a quirky story. I think it works beautifully. What do you think?

Are you communicating with your visitors? Or just preaching?

The trouble with websites is they’re mostly one-way. A sermon, not a conversation.

That’s not how effective persuasion works in the ‘real world’. You wouldn’t launch straight into a sales spiel, in face-to-face conversation with a prospect. There’d be to-ing and fro-ing. Laughter, sharing and meaningful pauses. Courtesy and social maxims to observe. You’d give your prospect time to digest what you’re saying, and you’d help her if you saw her struggling with something.

What a bizarre 24 hours I’ve just had. The strange headline above is actually not a metaphor, it’s 100% true. In fact, the headline would be more accurate if it read, ‘How disco, Chinese food, social media, Microsoft Word, my ex-wife and a hug from the principal saved the Easter Bunny’.
